This event, 'Grease Production' was being held at the Simei ITE on the 6th to 9th January.

6th January was the meeting.
7th-8th January was the training on how to use the camera and the sound mixer.
The job of the mixer is just like the director and producer.

The actual event was on the 9th January.

Breathe: Video Competition

The competition is open to all youths aged 17 to 25 years old. Each team is limited to a maximum of 5 members, excluding any additional manpower that may contribute to the video clip in any capacity.

First Prize - $2,000
Second Prize - $1,500
Third Prize - $1,000

Each team is to ensure that consent is obtained from:

1. All persons appearing in the video clip.
2. All relevant authorities in the event the filming is conducted in public venues.

CONTENT

The video clip should communicate one of the following 5 messages:

Message 1 : Healthy Eating
Message 2 : Say “No” to Smoking
Message 3 : Exercise Regularly
Message 4 : Stay Happy, Manage Your Stress
Message 5 : Youth Sexuality (AIDS/STIs and Youth)

JUDGING CRITERIA

1. 5 videos will be short-listed by judges from HPB based on the following criteria:

	Judging Criteria	Weightage
	Content (i.e. were the key messages brought across clearly)	40%
	Overall presentation (i.e. creativity & originality)	25%

This project has outreached to an average of between 150- 170 beneficiaries annually with the assistance of our volunteers.

The South-West Community Development Council (CDC) has launched the first ever Youth Film Competition entitled YourFilm.SG.
The competition is aimed at local youths who aspire to enter the media industry, as well as those who simply want to express themselves via film.
The theme for this year’s competition is
“Youth-niquely Singapore” – which, in a nutshell,
translates as: What makes Singapore unique?
Any youth aged 13 to 35 from Singapore is eligible to enter their submissions in ANY format they wish. Footages can be captured on any device, including mobile phones, traditional film or digital cameras. Participants may submit films representative of their schools, youth organisations, or religious organisations; or they may submit films independently or with a group of friends.
All entries will be showcased once they are approved
and uploaded to the YourFilm.SG website.
Prizes to be won are as follows:
Top prize: $1,000 in cash and prizes
1st runner up: $800 in cash and prizes
2nd runner up: $300 in cash and prizes

Mr Zo brought us to the "Lights and Shadows"
A production house located in Outram area. Nice building with a cosy feeling as we enter into a brand new world of creative masterpieces.
There we learnt and witness the production flow of works. They don't seem like they are working. It seems that they are having fun.
We were mesmerised as their works was such an awesome!
We stood by speechless, now we know the industry demands and standards.

Digital Media Video Effects and ITE Students on the NEW PAPER!!

Coming from different backgrounds and personalities, these youths were no pushover.
Brushed with talents and artistic flair, that made them really special.
These students were identified and highlighted in NEW PAPER on the 29th January 2008.

Aidil Marzuki, 22, the class chairman and the captain of the “West DB Soccer Team” mentioned, “Mr Zo, wasn’t just an ordinary teacher. He is well liked by everyone in AMK ITE and his ability to lead and connect with the students made him SHINE. My handsome teacher is popular among the ladies also, he is real COOL besides being a dedicated teacher and lecturer, and a wise man with many TALENTS.”

Ramanzo Ninsawi, Lecturer and the Class Advisor of the students featured were just finding some activities to keep the youngsters from going astray. So he thought of soccer, a passion he has and would like to share with his students. From then, the rest were history as he connects his own class student and other youths in Singapore to get together for a dazzling game of soccer. Knowing his charms and multi - talented capabilities in music, dance, sports and academic achievement, he brought the students into the limelight again. The article featured his rapport and formed a great camaraderie with his fellow students over the years.

Ooi Mei RU , Fiona, 17, applauded “Those were my classmates in the papers. They have come a long way from ZERO to HERO..They have changed and improved holistically”

“It was a pleasant suprise, and an achievement for all of us in College West especially we are from ITE” replied Zo.

The article were spread over 2 BIG pages, and received positive comments from the public, the campus, ITE management and students. The students featured in the article were also highlighted to be 4PM ambassadors in Soccer Clinic which is to nurture the rising talent of youths in soccer. The group also has reached a wider fan base attracting many talents from various places.

Guided by their Class Advisor Mr Romanzo Ninsawi, lecturer whom have boosted our morale and spirits. Thus, we already had strategize our plan and had a winning formula before going into the competition. Despite only given 2 hours to complete their design, our Digital Video Effects students from Ang Mo Kio Campus created buzz again in design competitions.

The 2 students impressed the judges and won a standing ovation among the guests and judges as they battle for the promising award.

The event took place at Yayasan Mendaki and witness many young and aspiring young talents showcasing their masterpieces.

Said Charles Looi, "The conceptualisation, brainstorming of ideas came to the top of my neck. As I breathe, wake up and think of design and evolution of ideas, I had difficulty choosing the best work which is to be submitted. I really got to thank Mr.Zo and Ms Angela for having the faith in me."
